Climate change at european level

For some of the poorest countries the effects of actual temperature increase of 0.8°C are already dramatic. In particular in the dry tropics there is a real risk of being pushed into a downwards spiral of increasing vulnerability and poverty: there could be 200 million climate refugees by 2050.

Considering actual trends in populations growth, energy production and the development of emerging countries, IPCC estimates (with a 50% probability) an increase in temperature of 5°C by the end of the century (reaching 750 ppm of CO2 from actual 430 ppm).

All citizens, associations, governments and private companies can contribute to fight climate change, reducing their own dependency on fossil fuels and stopping deforestation, both the main anthropogenic source of CO2 emissions.

The radio campaign will provide citizens with a more comprehensive knowledge about problems related with climate change: the impacts on economies and natural ecosystems and the effects of policy measures.
